New Video Series: Practical vs. Contextual Theology—What’s the Difference?

I’ve just posted the first video in a new YouTube series exploring the difference between contextual theology and practical theology! Watch it here:

The motivation for this series came from a simple but important question a friend asked me: “What’s the difference between contextual theology and practical theology?”

At first, it seemed like an easy question to answer. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how deeply both approaches are shaped by major shifts in philosophy, social sciences, and theology itself.

Before we can even begin comparing the two, we first need to step back and ask:

💡 How did the 20th century change our understanding of truth?

In this first video, I break down:
✅ The rise of positivism and the belief in universal truth
✅ How Einstein, Freud, and Gödel disrupted ideas of objective knowledge
✅ Why the social construction of reality changed how we think about truth and meaning
✅ How these shifts laid the foundation for contextual theology and practical theology

📌 This video sets the stage for the entire series, where I’ll unpack how these two theological approaches emerged, where they overlap, and where they differ.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Drop a comment below or join the conversation on YouTube. And if you’re interested in theology, faith, and culture, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss the rest of the series!
